Abstract
⺠The superior salivatory nucleus (SSN) contains parasympathetic preganglionic neurons. ⺠SSN neurons innervating the salivary glands have muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. ⺠The muscarinic receptors in SSN neurons may be associated with the circadian rhythm. ⺠Sialogogues may act on the muscarinic receptors in SSN neurons.
