Abstract
ⶠDomoic acid is an excitotoxin that induces COX2 expression in the brain. ⶠProperly dosed COX2 inhibitors protect sensitive CA1 and CA3 neurons from excitotoxicity. ⶠProperly dosed COX2 inhibitors provide protection against lethality of excitotoxicity. ⶠImproper dosing of COX2 inhibitors can aggravate domoic acid excitotoxicity.
