Abstract
▶ Items maintained in working memory (WM) can guide attention in visual search. ▶ Some proposes that items in WM but outside focus of attention do not guide attention. ▶ Guidance effects were found for simple colored shapes but not for complex shapes. ▶ Stimulus attribute is a key determinant of attentional guidance from WM content. ▶ With effective attribute, WM items outside attention focus can guide attention.
