Abstract
⺠The visual cortex undergoes synaptogenesis in a layer-specific manner. ⺠Synaptogenesis needs predetermined programs and experience-dependent reorganization. ⺠We identified seven genes with layer-specific expression. ⺠One gene, APLP1, might mediate predetermined programs during synaptogenesis. ⺠Another gene, STMN2, may reorganize cortical layers via microtubule-related effects.
