Abstract
⺠We examined neuronal mechanisms of jaw/tongue coordination during fictive suckling. ⺠Low-frequency rhythmic trigeminal activity was synchronized to hypoglossal activity. ⺠Low-frequency trigeminal activity disappeared after a rostral midline transection. ⺠Low-frequency hypoglossal activity remained after a rostral midline transection. ⺠Transected midline region may underlie the jaw/tongue coordination during suckling.
