Abstract
⺠Combining lowpass-filtered and vocoded signals improves speech-recognition performance. ⺠This effect is observed under a wide variety of stimulation conditions. ⺠It is larger than predicted by a model combining independent identification decisions. ⺠Gaussian-SDT models can explain the effect without involving cross-modal interactions.
