Abstract
⺠Basic topochemical UMSP investigations on brown-rot degraded wood. ⺠Lignin modification starts at the outermost part of the secondary wall layer. ⺠Lignin modification occurs before any mass loss is detectable. ⺠Depolymerisation of the native ligno-cellulosic matrix causes increase in UV absorbance.
