Abstract
► Fungus Paecilomyces marquandii had an excellent ability for zinc and lead uptake. ► A dominant role of metabolism dependent microprecipitation was detected. ► Both metals were crystallized as hydrocarbonates. ► Metals complexation by carboxyl and amide groups from cell wall was also involved. ► Ion exchange can be important in the case of lead binding.
