Abstract
⺠In arid human communities of northwest Patagonia, firewood knowledge has a relevant role for subsistence. ⺠Twenty one species were registered, of which 18 were native and 3 exotic. ⺠In then two rural communities studied, purchase of other resources and use of alternative fuels to complement firewood use. ⺠They also recycle biological products to supplement firewood and practice forestation. ⺠The use of multiple fuel resources could contribute to social-ecological resilience.
