Abstract
⺠Woodrat herbivory permanently removed photosynthetic tissue on >40% of saguaros. ⺠Herbivory was associated with fewer adjacent succulents, including Opuntia cacti. ⺠Saguaros with high (vs. zero) herbivory exhibited reduced reproductive output. ⺠Heavily-grazed plants produced 31% fewer flowers and 42% fewer fruits. ⺠Woodrat herbivory can dampen saguaro reproduction and recruitment pulses.
