Abstract
⺠We evaluate 32 models which explain gradients of ant species richness in deserts. ⺠We employ information theoretical model selection procedures. ⺠The productivity model receives the highest support. ⺠However, other competitive models are likely to become the best model. âºÂ We find strong supportive evidence for the tolerance-productivity model.
