Abstract
⺠We sampled 40 old field sites in the Owens Valley CA and compared vegetational development to that on 17 reference sites. ⺠Our purpose was to determine if secondary succession has occurred in this arid region. ⺠Two successional pathways were observed. ⺠Our results support the concept that secondary succession does occur in arid regions.
