Abstract
⺠Plant communities are described along a gradient from floodplain to savanna woodland. ⺠Soil properties are the main factor explaining the variation in species composition. ⺠Herbivory affects vegetation structure and species richness of plant communities. ⺠Results suggest a strong interaction between resource availability and herbivory.
