Abstract
► A decadal seasonal time series of zooplankton for offshore Lake Michigan was examined. ► Zooplankton are under stress from competition from invasive mussels for food. ► Invertebrate predation has replaced vertebrate predation as main source of mortality. ► Bythotrephes predation is likely a major factor in the decline of some zooplankters. ► Bythotrephes benefitted from increased light associated with mussel filtering.
