Abstract
⺠Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) are used as flame retardants in some products. ⺠Male walleyes were 2.8 times higher in PBDE concentration than females in Saginaw Bay. ⺠Results indicated a “hot spot” effect for PBDEs in Saginaw Bay walleye population. ⺠Non-point sources from landfills and floodplain soils led to Saginaw River “hot spot”. ⺠PBDE congener profiles suggested a sex difference in walleye diet composition.
