Abstract
⺠We outline genetic techniques for establishment of species and strain in fish. ⺠Morphometric identification techniques often supply inferior levels of confidence. ⺠We genetically establish the species and strain for two potential world record fish. ⺠One individual is confirmed as a world record, the other was a different species.
