Abstract
► We investigate pharyngeal morphology of round gobies from Lake Erie. ► Pharyngeal bones and teeth appear to change throughout life in round gobies. ► Small round gobies possess pharyngeal structures to prey on arthropods. ► Large round gobies possess pharyngeal structures to prey on dreissenid mussels.
