Abstract
► We characterized food web structure and Hg in two Lake Victoria embayments. ► Net phytoplankton δ13C and δ15N was driven by trophic status and N-fixation. ► Total Hg in fish was consistently below 200 ng/g at both study sites. ► We found evidence that trophic status influenced mercury concentrations in fish.
