Abstract
► We conducted the first dynamic stock assessment of chambo in the SEA of Lake Malawi. ► CPUE and estimated biomass were highly correlated with changes in lake height. ► High lake levels linked with greater nutrients via upwelling and nearshore processes. ► Fishing pressure was the main driver determining the abundance of chambo.
