► Predict fine particle plume transport in a large lake using a numerical model. ► Solve wide-open boundary problems by using extended domains. ► Investigate model performance in a coastal region with various numerical schemes. ► The fine particle plume follows the shoreline and stays within about 2 km from the shore.
