Abstract
⺠We compared diatoms in samples taken from Lake Peipsi in 2006 and in the 1970s. ⺠Relationships between diatoms and physical environmental variables were defined. ⺠Main diatom taxa have not changed during more than 25 years. ⺠Areas with higher concentrations of diatom valves have changed. ⺠The study revealed the importance of local abiotic conditions for diatoms.
