Abstract
⺠Quagga mussels dominate the nearshore dreissenid population. ⺠9.7 Ã 1012 mussels totaling 1.2 Ã 105 mT reside in the Lake Ontario nearshore. ⺠Mussels can filter the nearshore volume in roughly 1-7 days. ⺠Mussel size and biomass declined in a west-to-east direction. ⺠Neither food limitation nor round goby abundance control mussel abundance.
