Abstract
► Quagga mussels dominate the nearshore dreissenid population. ► 9.7 × 1012 mussels totaling 1.2 × 105 mT reside in the Lake Ontario nearshore. ► Mussels can filter the nearshore volume in roughly 1-7 days. ► Mussel size and biomass declined in a west-to-east direction. ► Neither food limitation nor round goby abundance control mussel abundance.
