Abstract
► We used a nested 3D model in a coastal area of Lake Ontario. ► Spatial variability of nutrients and phytoplankton dynamics was simulated. ► Intensive field data for two years (2007 and 2008) was used to validate the model. ► The model predicts water quality variables important to nuisance algae growth.
