From ecology to ecological engineering: Mainly through theory and concepts?

We review the idea that ecological engineering needs to better incorporate ecological theories and concepts. We highlight the fact that other reasonable positions on the link between ecology and management are found in the literature, including different ways to go from ecology to ecological engineering and ways to integrate ecological research within management. These different proposals vary among theoretical, methodological or natural history approaches.
