Abstract
⺠Diatom specific optical properties (SIOPs) change from active growth to senescence. ⺠SIOPs can be modeled in a radiative transfer code as a two-component mixture. ⺠Results confirm under-estimation of chlorophyll by remote sensing at high latitudes. ⺠Particulate organic carbon algorithms are sensitive to SIOP variability.
