Abstract

âº We present new biostratigraphic data from the late Miocene- Early Pliocene sediments of the Dacian Basin (Romania). âº Biostratigraphic data are incorporated into magnetostratigraphic time frame. âº The main Pontian ostracod species are presented. âº We reconstructed the paleogeographic and paleoenvironmental evolution of East Carpathian foredeep during the Messinian. âº A major transgression in the base of Pontian is documented.
