Abstract
► We examine the first unequivocal case of autochthonous Aturia assemblage.► Aturia lived in upper bathyal zone at 250-350 m. ► Oxygen isotope ratios show nektobenthic life of Aturia at all stages of its ontogeny. ► Newly hatched and adult Aturia probably lived in depths where the eggs were laid. ► Evidence of capacity of fossil cephalopods to exploit/tolerate oxygen-depleted waters.
