Abstract
Alinite based cements have attracted a great deal of attention because these can be produced at considerable energy savings. Alinite has an additional ability to incorporate in its structure various impurity ions and can thus be made using a number of industrial and mining wastes. In this paper, the work done in the preparation of alinite based cements using incinerator ashes is presented. It is shown that alinite cements having strengths comparable to ordinary Portland cement can be successfully prepared by controlling the composition and firing schedule.
