Abstract
⺠Both shelf-break canyons and headlands can create stationary topographic Rossby waves. ⺠Interaction of these waves can trigger the formation of coastal upwelling centers. ⺠Upwelling centers may form at conservable distance (>100 km) downstream from the canyon.
