Abstract
► Submesoscale biogeochemical patterns were studied in the Gibraltar Strait area. ► During spring tides: strong, intermittent mixing and coastal suction. ► During neap tides: NACW is the main nutrient's input to Alboran Sea. ► Suction of coastal waters were also observed for the first time during neap tides.
