Abstract
⺠A 50-years dataset of eel catches in marine waters is presented. ⺠Catches are linked to observed recruitment data by means of a fisheries model. ⺠This individual-based population model is founded on Dynamic Energy Budget theory. ⺠Lower recruitment is mainly responsible for the observed decrease in catches.
