Abstract
⺠We put forth a new large eddy simulation closure modeling strategy for large-scale two-dimensional turbulent geophysical flows. ⺠This closure modeling approach is based solely on mathematical approximations. ⺠The approximate deconvolution (AD) model yields numerical results that are in close agreement with those of the DNS at a fraction of the computational cost. ⺠We perform a numerical investigation of the sensitivity of the new AD model with respect to the parameters.
