Morpho-dynamic evolution patterns of Subcarpathian Prahova River (Romania)

► We analyze natural and man‐induced river behavior in relation to long‐term morphological changes. ► Tectonic uplift transformed the river sector from an accumulation into a transfer zone. ► At the exit from the mountainous gorge the river longitudinal profile is hump-shaped. ► The increased flow competence and sediment transport lead to bed and bank erosion. ► Human impact over the last 200 years amplified the long-term tendency of the river.
