Abstract

We present conditions on the structure and degree n of a finite irreducible complex linear group that guarantee its solvability. In particular, we show that if such a group is p-solvable but not p-closed for some prime number p, then the group is solvable whenever and n is also smaller than certain bounds which are on the order of p2.
