Abstract
For all primes p⩾5 we describe p-groups of order p5 and exponent p2 which form Brauer pairs, and we show that these are Brauer pairs of smallest possible p-power order. All of them arise as cyclic extensions of a certain type and we discuss general criteria under which these cyclic extensions form Brauer pairs.
