Abstract
The problem of comparing the Perron roots of two n-by-n nonnegative matrices, that differ only in a particular k-by-k principal submatrix, is considered. Several points of view are taken, under varying regularity conditions, and (at most) k polynomial conditions for the comparison are presented.
