Abstract
We establish a characterization of spheres in E3 with respect to a surface area property of regions with the aid of a new meaning of Gaussian curvature. Furthermore, with respect to a volume property of regions, we characterize elliptic paraboloids in arbitrary dimensional Euclidean spaces.
