Abstract
Amitai's pioneering works serve as a cornerstone in p. i. theory and algebraic combinatorics. Amitai's work has spanned not only these, but also real analysis, probability, number theory, Lie algebras and, especially, representation theory. Needless to say that we cannot summarize it all. In this survey we have chosen some major themes and results and apologize for all the ones omitted.
