Abstract
We present a generalization of the preconditioned modified HSS (PMHSS) iteration method for solving two classes of complex symmetric indefinite linear systems and show that under suitable conditions the new iteration method is unconditionally convergent. Each iteration of the new method requires the solution of two linear systems with real symmetric positive definite coefficient matrices. Numerical experiments are given to show the effectiveness of the new method.
