A new method called the SPSFC (Settlement Prediction for Staged Filling Construction) is proposed. This method is able to predict both the final settlement and the settlement during the staged filling steps from any filling stage in a PVD-improved soft ground. In order to verify the applicability of the SPSFC method, the settlement data must first be measured in the field at a specific filling stage and be analyzed to produce the soil parameters, which are needed to predict the settlement in the SPSFC method. Then, using the obtained soil parameters, the settlement curve is predicted and compared with the measured one. The predicted settlement and the measured one are well matched. From the study, it can be confirmed that the SPSFC method is able to predict the settlement during a staged filling with only a certain stage of settlement data.
