Abstract
Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a versatile material for removing pollutants from water and wastewaters. Based on the specifics of HA, its chemical reactivity, and the possibility to employ different processes, HA can be used to remove toxic metals, dyes, and pharmaceutical compounds, to reduce unpleasant smells in wastewater treatment plants, or to constitute the cement and/or the filler material in permeable reactive barriers (PRBs).
