Abstract
► We review the research on badland erosion at Vallcebre since 1982. ► Mediterranean montane badlands are carved by winter freezing and summer showers. ► Sediment sources and stocks other than badlands are activated during large events. ► The uncertainty of basin sediment yield was estimated versus record duration. ► Short term erosion rate data are useful only if erosion models can be implemented.
