Abstract
⺠This is the first comparative study of rock coatings on buildings and natural outcrops. ⺠Higher diversification of coatings on buildings exists due to extrinsic factors. ⺠Variable microclimatic agents on buildings favour the diversification of coatings. ⺠Weathering rates are briefly discussed, as the age of the studied surfaces is known. ⺠Weathering rates will depend on the surface, coating, timescale and climatic changes.
