Comments on ‘analysis and prediction of ocean tides by the computer program VAV’ by B. Ducarme, A.P. Venedikov, J. Arnoso and R. Vieira

This paper comments the recent paper ‘Analysis and prediction of ocean tides by the computer program VAV’ by B. Ducarme et al. in the Journal geodynamics. We use Fourier analysis and regression analysis in frequency domain to prove that the tidal analysis program VAV needs further improvements to make it to be fully applicable to the ocean tides, especially for the determination of long-period (LP) ocean tides.
