Abstract
⺠Hypertidal settings are defined as areas with a tidal range greater than 6 m. ⺠Six hypertidal areas are described in North and South America and Europe. ⺠Sedimentological features are discussed and compared. ⺠Yearly and neap-spring tidal cycles characterize hypertidal settings.
