Abstract
⺠Internal-wave deposits (internalites) are described. ⺠They formed from tractive up- and down-dip flows caused by breaking internal waves. ⺠Stacking of internalites reflects sediment-input changes and pycnocline fluctuation. ⺠A depositional model for sandy-oolitic internalites in mid-ramp setting is presented. ⺠Criteria for differentiating internalites from tempestites are provided.
