Abstract
► Hematite based primary remanence show 50° CCW rotation for the Pieniny Klippen Belt. ► This matches those observed for Oligocene sediments from neighboring areas. ► The W. Carpathian front was NW-SE oriented during Late Cretaceous and Paleogene. ► The present shape of the Pieniny Klippen Belt can be partly due to secondary bending. ► The bending took place before the Oligocene.
