Abstract
⺠Flammable gas emission after earthquake caused serious concern for local people. ⺠We identified the gas as of biogenic origin based on chemical and isotopic compositions. ⺠There are no direct pathways for gas emission from deep natural gas reservoirs. ⺠There is no expected correlation between the surface gas release and future shocks.
