Seeking the primary compositions of mantle xenoliths: Isotopic and elemental consequences of sequential leaching treatments on an eclogite suite

► Ultra-clean gnt and cpx separates can be achieved by leaching in hot 6 N HCl overnight without using HF. ► The leachable materials in xenolithic eclogites are mixtures of primary minerals and a metasomatic melt/fluid. ► Positive Eu anomalies in deep-lithospheric fluids suggest that such anomalies may not reflect shallow processes.
