Where did the lower Paleozoic rocks of Yucatan come from? A U-Pb, Lu-Hf, and Sm-Nd isotope study

► U-Pb ages and Lu-Hf systematics of detrital zircon grains from Yucatan are presented. ► Pre-Silurian sedimentary rocks contain ~ 1 Ga, 1.2 Ga, and 1.5 Ga detrital zircons. ► Hafnium isotopes differ between detrital zircon and zircon from adjacent lower crust. ► Models suggest detritus shed from crust thrusted over juvenile crust in 1 Ga orogeny. ► Thrusted units eroded and deposited at Gondwana's passive margin in early Paleozoic.
